Old Stadium Won’t Go to Sleep – 2008 ASG sets new Record for Time

The last Mid-Summer Classic at the old Yankee Stadium lived up to it’s name:  It was a classic.  It lasted 4 hrs and 50 minutes shattering the previous mark for longest game of 3:41.  For the 13th time in a row the AL emerged a winner (or unbeaten) with a come-from behind 4-3 win over the NL in 15 innings.  Michael Young (Tex – SS) drove in Justin Morneau (Min-1B) on a sac fly for the final winning score.  J.D. Drew (Boston – OF) won the MVP award with his 2-run homer to tie the game in the 7th inning.  He was 2-4 for the night.

John represented the Sec 22 crew along with his daughter Jen and they stayed to the very end.  Four Yankee Hall-of-Fame greats from the past (Reggie, Yogi, Whitey and Goose) threw out the first pitch to four stars of today (Mariano, Jeter, A-Rod and Girardi).  The Boss, George Steinbrenner, also was on the field for the first time in a long time.

  1. Mariano got a bump in my eye as it’s the first time I’ve seen him smile at a game He actually showed emotion and looked like he was having fun at the game . But then I realized that maybe he was happy A-Rod had to leave. Apparently he had bigger plans for Monday nite.
Jen and I didn’t see the beds till 3:30 I wonder if A(ss)-Rod can say the same
Great Game.. Great Time.. New Highs..New Lows
