Aug 7 – Friday Nite Marathon: Yanks Finally Beat Bosox 2-0 in 15 Innings

A-Rod 2-Run Blast Results in 10th Walk-off this Season

NYY 2009 Stadium Logo(Bronx, NY) – It was another instant YES Network classic.   14 scoreless innings of good pitching, great defensive plays, and two tired teams.  Then A-Rod ended his longest at-bat drought for homers with a line drive shot inthe bottom of the 15th that gave the Yanks their 5th in a row and a 4 1/2 game lead over the Sox.  The Yanks continue to surge while the banged-up Red Sox are trying to figure out how to get through their first major slump of the year.

Josh Beckett and A.J. Burnett hooked up in a classic pitcher’s duel with AJ yielding only 1 hit (to lead off the game for Boston) over 7 2/3 innings.  But both bullpens were equally strong and effective.

More details to follow.

  1. Tremendous game Friday night. Burnett got stronger and better as the game went along. The bullpen was at least as impressive, allowing just three hits and two walks in 7 1/3. After the win today, getting the sweep would be a really sweet turnaround after losing eight straight.

C.C. and A.J. availed themselves extremely well the last two games, big money starts.
