Aug 22 – Eyeing Yankee History: Jete’s on the Verge

2,700 Hit Plateau Arrives, Gehrig’s Yankee Mark Next

ny-jersey-logo(Boston, MA) – The Captain’s incredible road trip, with 19 hits in 8 away games (and two left) has put him on the verge of more history.  Earlier on the trip he broke the mark for most hits ever by a major league shortstop and now needs one to get to 2,700.  Next up is Lou Gehrig’s franchise mark of 2,721 hits and if Jeter remains as hot as he is there is a chance it could fall at home next weekend vs. the White Sox.  We’ll see.  Either way it is fun to watch.  (For the record he has way more hits than Jim Rice.  And 4 more championships.)
