Oct 9 – That Ol’ Bronx Magic: Yanks Clout Twins 4-3 in 11

Dramatic Late Homers by A-Rod and Tex Key Victory

nyy-26-logo(Bronx, NY) – The ghosts have clearly found their way 300 yards to the north of their old haunt.  And the new stadium is rapidly building playoff memories of its own.  Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 9th, Tex gets his first hit of the series to set the stage for A-Rod to tie it with a monster drive to right center.

A-Rod knocked in 3 of the 4 runs and the 9th inning dinger was a big one

Then leading off the 11th, Mark Teixeira lined a low screamer down the left field line into the stands and the Yanks had their 16th walk-off of the year and a 2-0 lead over the Twins in the ALDS.

Along the way there was plenty of drama including David Robertson getting out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 11th to set the stage for Tex.  A.J. Burnett pitched very well, allowing only 1 run while Phil Hughes and Mo looked very mortal in the 8th allowing Minnesota to take a 3-1 lead.  But in the end the Yanks did what they’ve done all year:  Win at home late.

  1. That was truly an amazing game!!! But the umpires really did made a bad call on Joe Mauer in the 11th inning because it was really a double instead of a foul ball!!! But great job by Dave Robertson getting out of no and bases loaded jam in the 11th inning!!! I was there to witness the whole thing!!! I was never doubt A-Rod again in the postseason along with the Texieira walkoff!!! I was dancing in heaven!!!

  2. That was one of the greatest playoff wins I have ever seen. A-Rod could not have been any more money. Teixeira’s walk-off was incredible. What work by Robertson in the eleventh, some real pressure pitching to allow nothing despite having the bases loaded, and no outs.

    Classic.

  3. That was truly an amazing game!
