Jun 2 – Two Roys in Philly? Oswalt Outlines his Preferences for Trade

Yanks, Cards and Phillies are His 3 Choices

(New York, NY) –  AOL Fanhouse is reporting that Roy Oswalt has told the Astros owners his desire.   He’ll waive his no-trade clause if the Astros can strike a deal with either the Yankees, Cardinals or Phillies.     The Astros drafted Oswalt back in 2001 and he’s gone 140-77 since then, but he’s had not a lot of run support this year and his record stands at 3-7 with a 2.78 ERA and 72 strikeouts.

Weigh in with a vote if you think the Yanks should pursue him.

  1. remember that hughes is on an innings cap, and will most likely not be in the rotation in sept…i do believe that the big 4 of cc aj andy and vazquez is very formidable in the post season, but we might need an innings eater 4-5 type starter due to big phil being shut down early…on the plus side, the bull pen def needs some re-enforcements, and the addition of hughes will be huge

  2. I agree with this assessment Chris! The Yankees just need an outfielder/DH type or bullpen guys at the trade deadline but I know bullpen pitchers are volatile even if you get one at the trade deadline.

  3. There’s no way he would come cheap and since the Yankees already have 5 above average starters a trade for Oswalt would not make sense. There is more value in keeping Javier Vazquez in the rotation than putting Oswalt in his spot and losing top prospects.
