Jun 9 – Roundup: Stevie Wonder Is Superb, Stanton No Slouch Either

MLB Gets Mid-Season Excitement as Rookies Impress

(New York, NY) – So Stephen Strasburg met the hype and embraced it with a tremendous start as the Nationals sold-out stadium rocked with excitement in the #1’s pick debut.  Super Steve went 7 innings and picked up the win and 14 K’s in the process and all eyes will now turn to Sunday at Cleveland for his first road start.  Meanwhile Florida’s super rook, Mike Stanton, opened up with a 3-5 night.  With other impressive beginnings from newcomers like Mike Leake (Reds) and Jason Heyward (Braves) 2010 seems to be a changing of the guard type of year and good for baseball.  More to come as the summer unfolds.

In other news, it seems the Mariners would like to unload Cliff Leep (LHP) to the Yanks in exchange for one of the Bombers good catching prospects (Romine/Montero) and SS Nunez from Scranton.  It remains unlikely the Yanks will do this given its current strong rotation.
