Jul 10 – Joba Jolt: Yanks Slammed by Seattle 4-1

8th Inning Grand Slam Spoils Strong Outing from Vazquez

(Seattle, WA) – The Yanks 7-game winning streak came to an abrupt end last night with Joba giving up a grand slam to Jose Lopez in the bottom of the 8th to wipe out a tiny 1-0 lead and ultimately giving the Mariners the win.  Javy Vazquez pitched well allowing only 3 hits and 0 runs in 7 innings but once again Joba proved to be average and could not get the ball to Mo.  Nick Swisher had provided the Yanks their only run off of a strong Felix Hernandez with a solo shot in the 3rd inning, his 15th of the year.  He remains red hot going into the All-Star break.

The Yanks remain 2 games ahead of Tampa at 55-32.

Joe Girardi’s post game interview he said he plans to stick with Joba as his 8th inning guy. Please vote on your opinion.

  1. Chan Ho Park should be DFA! I would love to see the New York Yankees bullpen solve internally with Mark Melancon or Jonathan Albaladejo. If not the New York Yankees better explore the trade market before July 31st! If not then waiver claims until August 31st!

  2. joba is solid 3 out of every 4 appearances…unfortunately, that is not consistent enough to be counted on in big spots like the post season…i do think that phil hughes will eventually move to the bullpen due to his innings cap, and he will continue to throw the ball well, but in the interim, cashman def needs to go out and explore the trade market to get another arm in the bullpen…i would love to solve the problem internally with a young guy like robertson, or melancon, but nobody seems to have stepped up

ps lets deport chan ho sucks back to korea
