Sep 8 – Swish! Nick Delivers Walk-off Homer to Salvage Win Against Orioles 3-2

Stops 3 game Losing Streak, End Home Stand at 7-3

(Bronx, NY) – Talk about timing.  Buck Showalter made his return to Yankee Stadium impressive taking the first 2 games and stood 2 outs from a sweep when Nick Swisher saved the day.  A-Rod let off the bottom of the 9th with a single and then after Cano flied out to deep center, Nick went yard for another Yankee walk-off.  It was the right hit at the right time as the Yanks were losing their momentum from their recent 8-game run, having faltered against the O’s.  It was Swisher’s 26th long ball of the year and his 82 RBI’s matches last years total with 22 games to go.

Ivan Nova turned in another good outing, allowing only a 2-run shot from Matt Wieters over 6 innings.  The bullpen did well again with Roberston, Logan and Joba (3-4) holding Baltimore scoreless before the dramatics.  The Yanks get a day off tomorrow before traveling to Texas for the weekend.

They now sit at 87-33 and hold their lead over Tampa in the AL East.

  1. It’s amazing how one swing can change the face of a home stand. Going 6-4 losing the last 4 games sounds a lot worse than going 7-4.

  2. 87-53 Yankees record. Currently two games of the Rays barring the action tonight between the Red Sox and the Rays.
