Catching On: Yanks Continue to Gel; Top Brewers Again 5-2

Russell Martin 3-Run Blast is the Big Blow

(New York, NY) – AJ Burnett (8-6) pitched 7 innings again, D-Rob (H, 16) and Mo (S, 21) did their 8th and 9th inning thing again and Russell Martin’s big 3-run homer was the difference as the Yanks (47-31) won another series.  Jorge Posada hit his 3rd homer in 7 games in the 6th inning to pad the lead.  The umpires reviewed the blow but upheld the call.

The Bombers 5-2 win over Milwaukee makes them 10-4 in interleague play on the year.  With Boston and Tampa losing the Yanks put a slight gap in their place on top of the AL East.

Notes:  After the game the Yanks announced they had acquired Sergio Mitre from the Brewers.  He returns to the Bronx again!  Nunez made his 10th error of the season, a trend that needs to stop.

Posada and Martin both went deep to secure the Yanks 47th win of the season
