FNY First: A Sec 430 Member Sees the Yanks in Spring Training

Emmett Shares  some Thoughts and Great Photos

(Tampa, FL) – Finally a Friday Night member has made it to Spring training.  Our very own Emmett, his Dad and his brother Sean got to see the Bombers in action this past weekend.  They saw an offense slugfest with the Nationals prevailing over the Yanks by a score of 10-8.

Some Highlights:
  • Yankees played with thier starting outfield of Gardner, Granderson, and Swisher. Posada was the starting DH.
  • Sabathia started the game  but ended up getting roughed up.
  • Two future STARS were playing in the game- Jesus Montero and Bryce Harper for the Nationals.
  • While not exciting as Friday Nights up in the Bronx- Tampa in the spring is definitely a cool experience.
Thanks to Emmett for the great pictures!

Oct 25 – Friday Nite Yanks: Playoff Memories Re-visited

(Garnerville, NY) – After 5 years for the original crew to the current Section 430 crew (Jamie, Brendan, John, Emmett, Tom, James K. and Paul plus the mixed seat), a playoff game from the package came to be.  Emmett worked very hard and secured Home Game 2 of the ALDS, which tom won in the lottery but never occurred.  He also got Home Game 3 of the ALCS, which John won in the lottery and got to go to!  He took Peg and saw the Yanks final win of the 2010 season.  Here are some pictures to re-visit the last happy moment of the year for Yanks fans.

Oct 11 – New Bosox Curse: From Section 430 No Less!

Yankee Stadium Logo(Boston, MA) – So the Angels break their recent hex vs. the Red Sox with a sweep and a dramatic win in the 9th, scoring 3 off of closer Jonathan Papelbon.  However, without a doubt it, it was aided by the new Section 430 curse bestowed on the Sox by one of the crew when he went to Fenway Park earlier this season.  See the picture below.  He sprinkled official Yankee Stadium grass seed near the Pesky Pole in right field.  And the rest is history.

Aug 25 – Almost! Yanks Just Miss and Fall 10-9 to Texas

Rally in the 9th Ends with Double Play, Date Night Still Fun

baseball-png-png(Bronx, NY) – Well in a season of walk-offs this one came close.  But a game-ending double play snuffed the Yanks spirited 4-run rally to draw within 1 against the Rangers.  For the Friday Nite Yanks squad this was an extra treat (seeing a weekday game) and 5 from the crew (John, Brendan, James Sr, Tom and James Jr) brought their spouses (Peg, Keri, Pat, Ginny and Ellen) to the game.

The game had a lot.  The Yanks scored 4 early led by a big Matsui 2-run double and a Posada 2-run homer but Joba gave back 2 in the second before getting hammered for 5 in the 4th.  Chad Gaudin would give up 3 runs in relief but the Yanks made a big comeback in the 9th with various hits only to have first and second and no one out.  But Swisher failed to bunt properly and Melky hit a line drive up the middle that Andrus (SS) played very well to double up pinch runner Jerry Hairston and that was the end of it.

May 15 – Section 430 Getting Into the New Digs

FNY(Bronx, NY) – The Section 430 crew is starting to get into the new home.  The games have been good, the seats are a little wider and the aisles seem easier for getting in and out of the row to go for food or a break.  Jim Sr. made his first stadium visit of the year and brought some family members while the new Section 430 shirts for 2009 were handed out last night.  Our thanks to Jim Crowley for making it happen!

Here are some shots from the game as well as some new and old section members.

Apr 17 – New Stadium, New Section

The Crew from 22 Checkout Section 430

FNY(Bronx, NY)- Well the Friday Nite Yanks started this season off in the bright daylight, but it was excellent.  The entire Sec 22 crew was not there with James, Jim Sr. and John all unable to come but the other 7 made it along with their guests (Jim C., Pat and Rich).   So this season it is all about Section 430.  The Bertrands made it along with the Mrs. this time, and Pat Irish stopped by from next door in Section 429.  Kirk is also around in Section 431A and we expect to meet some more regulars next time.  For now here are some opening game pictures from the crew; new and old.

Apr 16 – The New Stadium Opens

NYY 2009 Stadium Logo(Bronx, NY) – The new stadium opened today and was as grand and spectacular as expected.  There will be extensive coverage tomorrow as the Section 22/430 crew makes its debut for the 2nd game ever and still and video pictures will be forthcoming.

In the meantime here is a list of historical ‘firsts’ at the Stadium courtesy of MLB.COM:

The new stadium is grand. Today's outcome wasn't but there's always tomorrow.
